      James Thomas Linnell (British, 1826-1905) Boys Fishing, Somersetshire signed lower left 'James T Linnell' signed and titled on original label verso with artist's address of 'Red Hill, Surrey' oil on canvas 53.5 x 77cm Provenance: Sotheby's, London, 3rd June 1992, Lot 11 The painting is executed in oil on a canvas support which is unlined. The canvas tension is slightly slack but the picture is in plane. The paint layers are in a good, stable condition overall. There are areas of overpaint across the surface which area well matched to the original. The varnish is clear, the gloss is slightly uneven across the surface but the overall appearance of the work is good.
