Beautifully painted in a very nice period frame. Frame measures 48" x 62.5"; sight 35.5" x 49.5". Ex Don Jansen, Columbus, Ohio. Condition: Professionally cleaned and restored, see photos. Relined; small repair with patch to back (patch approx. 3.5"w 2.25"h, infill spots on front two small circles, smaller than a dime - upper right sky). Small area of paint loss and infill to center right sky (size of a quarter). Reframed in a period frame with spacer. Appears to be original stretcher.

Modernly framed in ornate frame, matting and under glass with acid back paper as shown. Measuring approx 15" wide x 23" tall sight size and 26" wide x 32" tall including the frame. See photos. Thomas Corwin Lindsay, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, was a well-known painter of landscapes, animal subjects and occasional portraits.Ê He studied in Dusseldorf, Germany, in the 1860s, but lived and worked most of his life in his native city where he opened a studio in 1856 or 1857.Ê He taught several pupils from his studio, and was a founding member of the Cincinnati Art Club, which became the Men's Art Club. Most of his landscapes were painted in Pennsylvania, up-state New York, the White Mountains of New Hampshire or other Eastern states.
