Biography - Jorge Leyva

Originally from Lima, Peru, Jorge Leyva has called Joplin, Missouri home for the last twenty-five years since he moved there after he finished his Masters of Fine Arts Degree from the California College of the Arts. The changing landscape of the Ozarks region is a continuing inspiration for Leyva to evolve as an artist.

By pushing the boundaries of surface materials and media, his works examine greater metaphysical concerns of how to conceptualize nature and self within the confines of society. The concept of power is one such theme that early works explore.
