Lower middle inscribed in the printing plate: "Adam de Bartsch Conseiller aulique et premier Garde de la Bibliotheque imp. et roy de la Cour Chevalier de l'Ordre de Leopold et Membre del' Academie des beaux Arts a Vienne". Date: c. 1800 Description: Breast portrait of the Austrian artist and art writer Johann Adam Bernhard Ritter von Bartsch. His most important work, "Le Peintre Graveur", was published in 21 volumes (Vienna, 1803-1821) and is still regarded today as the standard work on old master prints.
