FELIPE PABLO DE SAN LEOCADIO Activo en Valencia en el primer tercio del siglo XVI San José con el Niño

      Est: -

FELIPE PABLO DE SAN LEOCADIO Active in Valencia in the first third of the 16th C. San José con el Niño Felipe Pablo de San Leocadio was born around 1480, probably in Valencia, son of the Italian painter Paolo de San Leocadio (1447- 1520). His training had to pass along with his father, one of the most renowned painters of the moment, active in Valencia, Castellón and Gandía. At the death of the latter, Felipe Pablo takes the reins of the family workshop, showing in his works his strong personality, lengthening the figures as is typical of mannerism and with a strong leonardesca influence brought to Valencia in the early sixteenth century by the people of La Mancha Fernando or Hernando Yáñez de la Almedina and Hernando de los Llanos. His production, as befits the time he lived, was mostly religious, ranging from small devotional pieces such as this San José with the Child that we here present, to large altarpieces in emblematic buildings, such as the altarpiece of San Vicente Ferrer for the convent of Santo Domingo in Valencia. Oil on board 120 x 62 cm. Antique painting and 19th C.
