John Lennon Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1940 - d. 1980

English artist John Lennon (b.1940) worked primarily with ink and pen, lithography, and etching. His provocative series Bag One gave an intimate view of his life with Yoko Ono. In 1970, the Bag One series was exhibited at the London Art Gallery. The exhibit was closed by Scotland Yard after a short run, and all the erotic lithographs from the series were seized. The entire portfolio of John Lennon's Bag One prints is now on permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Artist John Lennon wanted to show the human experiences of love, communication, and family through his artwork. John Lennon's artwork prints for sale include many portraits of Yoko, his younger son Sean, as well as self-portraits; they all increased in value after his death in 1980. As one of the few photographers with whom John and Yoko were close, Tannenbaum was privileged to be able to capture many intimate moments between the two. The resulting photographs, many of which have never before been available to the public, portray a couple deeply in love--playful, spiritual, and remarkably at home in front of the camera while expressing their feelings to each other. John cherished these images of Yoko and was moved by their beauty and grace.
