    PHILIPPE LE CLERC (1755-1826)

    Est: $800 - $1,200

PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTION DOVE 13 1/2 by 10 1/4 in. signed and dated Ph Le Clerc fecit 1788 lower left watercolor NOTE An almost identical example depicting a Seychelles blue pigeon and also dated 1788 was sold Bonhams London, Important Natural History Books and Watercolours, July 15, 2004, lot 277, as by Pierre Thomas Le Clerc. This attribution is dubious as Pierre Thomas Le Clerc's oeuvre consists almost entirely of ink and watercolors depicting 18th century costumes in a quite dissimilar style to the present lot.
