    1837 East India Company

    Est: $50 - $80

A signed letter by Charles Webb Le Bas, principle for the East India Company College. The College was established as vocational education establishment, also known as "Haileybury." The letter is dated March 28, /37 (1837), is three pages in length (formatted as a single page, folded at the centre to form a small booklet. Each page measuring approximately 19 x 12cm. In very good condition, with few folds, very little edge-wear and tatting, little soiling. Le Bas notes that without effecting change, Australia would surely "become and empire of villainy and piracy." Surely an astute description of the founders of the college.
