TOMMASO LAURETI 1525-1602 VENERE SCOPRE IL CORPO DI ADONE 1550-1560 CIRCA - VENUS DISCOVERS THE BODY OF ADONIS 1550-1560 CIRCA

    Est: -

Olio Su Tela.  90,5 X 136,5 Cm Opera In Bella Cornice In Legno Intagliato E Dorato, Restaurata E Rintelata. La Tela, Proveniente Da Una Prestigiosa Collezione Privata Romana, Pare Essere Antesignana Della Tela Già Documentata In Collezione Mallandrino (Messina) Da Anna Chiara Fontana E Datata 1560 Circa. Le Due Tele Raffiguranti Il Medesimo Soggetto Narrato Nelle Metamorfosi Di Ovidio (X, 708-739), Ovvero Il Toccante Momento In Cui Venere Scopre Il Corpo Esanime Dell’Amato Adone Ucciso Da Un Cinghiale Inferocito, Risultano Divergenti Per Alcune Impostazioni Dell’Impianto Compositivo E Delle Cromie Utilizzate. La Tela Qui Presentata È Preceduta, O Di Poco Seguita, Da Una Nota Incisione Di Lorenzo Penni, Figlio Del Più Celebre Luca, Datata Tra Il 1550 E Il 1559 E Rispecchia La Tradizione Manierista Post-Michelangiolesca Ben Incarnata Dalla Poco Nota Produzione Pittorica Del Laureti. - Oil On Canvas.  35.63 X 53.74 In. Artwork In Beautiful Carved Gilt-Wood Frame, Restored And Re-Lined. The Canvas, Coming From A Prestigious Roman Private Collection, Seems To Be A Forerunner Of The Canvas Already Documented In The Mallandrino Collection (Messina) By Anna Chiara Fontana And Dated Around 1560. The Two Canvases Depicting The Same Subject Narrated In Ovid'S Metamorphosis (X, 708-739), Or The Touching Moment In Which Venus Discovers The Lifeless Body Of The Beloved Adonis Killed By An Angry Boar, Are Divergent For Some Settings Of The Compositional System And The Colors Used. The Canvas Presented Here Is Preceded, Or Slightly Followed, By A Well-Known Etching By Lorenzo Penni, Son Of The Most Famous Luca, Dated Between 1550 And 1559 And Reflects The Post-Michelangelo Mannerist Tradition Well Embodied By The Little-Known Pictorial Production Of Laureti.
