    • Jeanne Laurence Original Floral Painting
      Mar. 02, 2023

      Jeanne Laurence Original Floral Painting

      Est: $150 - $225

Jeanne Laurence (Alaska, 1887-1980) small framed floral painting. Measures 5.5 x 4 inches image size and 10.625 x 8.625 inches framed. Excellent condition in the original frame. Provenance: Estate of David Milot. David was a Real Estate Broker by trade and a passionate, lifelong collector of anything of quality that caught his eye. His collection of fine art, bronzes, designer decor, period furniture, mid-century furniture, designer furniture, Chinese antiques and more are among some of the finest examples available. David's knowledge, or perhaps more accurately, "his eye" for quality, was usually the most refined of anyone in the room. David purchased thousands of items over the years at auctions, estate sales, and antique stores so any additional provenance is not readily available. These treasures were truly found "in the wild," and that's how David liked it. If lot is absent of a condition report one may be requested via email. Condition report is provided as an opinion only and is no guarantee as grading can be subjective. Buyer must view photographs or scans to assist in determining condition and ask further questions if so desired. Our in-house shipping department will gladly pack and ship any item that fits into a 14x14x14 inch or 30x5x24 inch or equivalent or smaller box/folio if it is not fragile or over 25lbs. We will charge for labor to pack and process based on actual time it takes, actual cost of materials used to pack and actual shipper charges that will include insurance and signature required. We generally use USPS and Fed Ex and compare the pricing between the two. Books maximum box size will be 14x14x14 inch or equivalent and will be shipped USPS Media Mail unless otherwise requested. We gladly will give shipping estimates prior to auction. Please make this request at least 24 hours prior to auction for our shipping department to respond. If your invoice is for multiple items, we will use our discretion on requiring the use of an outside shipper. We reserve the right to require an outside shipper on any item(s) in the auction even if not stated.

    • 1970s J. Laurence Print - Wild Roses & Forget Me Nots
      Jan. 27, 2022

1970s J. Laurence Print - Wild Roses & Forget Me Nots

      Est: $300 - $600

**Originally Listed At $200** Jeanne Laurence (b. France 1887-1980). "Wild Roses and Forget Me Nots" - signed in the plate at lower left - ca. 1970s. A lovely print of one of Alaskan artist Jeanne Laurence's watercolor and gouache paintings. At this point in her career, Laurence specialized in studies of Alaskan wildflowers. In this composition, she presents an elegant branch of coral pink roses joined by sprays of soft blue and pink Forget Me Nots. The Germans named this flower for a beloved story of two lovers who were walking along the Danube River when the bright blue blossoms caught their attention. The man picked the flowers for the woman, but tragically, the river swept him away. As he floated away, he asked her not to forget him. This touching story led to the Forget-Me-Not flower becoming a symbol of remembrance. The floral still life is set against a black ground, creating a brilliant contrast, and set in a frame behind glass. Size (print): 7.75" W x 12.1" H (19.7 cm x 30.7 cm); (frame): 13.75" W x 21.1" H (34.9 cm x 53.6 cm) Jeanne Laurence was the wife of famous Alaskan artist Sydney Laurence as well as author of "An Album of Alaskan Wildflowers" and "My Life with Sydney Laurence". Provenance: private Louisville, Colorado, USA collection All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. We ship worldwide and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience. #161935
