Barbara Latham was an American painter, printmaker and children's book illustrator married to the American printmaker and muralist Howard Norton Cook. Image measures 8 x 10, sheet is 8.75 x 11 inches.         Barbara (Cook) Latham (New Mexico, Massachusetts, 1896-1989) pencil signed woodcut [Wagon Wheels]. Measures 16.75 x 19.625 inches sheet size. Appears to have been professionally cleaned with a very slight amount of restoration done in the right margins and top left corner of margin. Unframed, loose and not glued or mounted. Provenance: Estate collection of William Greenbaum, Gloucester, Massachusetts, Proprietor of William Greenbaum Fine Prints. If lot is absent of a condition report one may be requested via email. Condition report is provided as an opinion only and is no guarantee as condition can be subjective. Buyer must view photographs or scans to assist in determining condition and ask further questions if so desired. Our in-house shipping department will gladly pack and ship any item that fits into a 14x14x14 inch or 30x5x24 inch or equivalent or smaller box/folio if it is not fragile or over 25lbs.         BARBARA LATHAM (1896-1989) Taos Street Scene. Woodcut. 113x172 mm; 4 1/2x6 3/4 inches, full margins. Edition of 25. Signed in pencil, lower right. 1932. A very good impression. Latham was born in Walpole, Massachusetts and graduated from the Pratt Institute in New York in 1919. She continued to study painting under Andrew Dasburg at the Art Students League in New York. In 1925, Latham relocated to Taos to work as an illustrator and join the burgeoning artist colony. She met fellow artist Howard Cook (19101-1980) and the two married in 1927. They traveled extensively before settling back near Taos in 1938. Latham is best known for her Taos scenes, like the present work, and her illustrations for children's books.
