Michel LASNE (1590-1667) Plaque de matrice en cuivre gravée représentant Pierre de Broc (vers 1590-1671), abbé de Cino Mars, évêque d'Auxerre et Aumonier du Roy en buste dans un encadrement ovale surmontant ses armoiries. Une estampe de cette gravure sans les annotations est conservée au musée du Château de Versailles (LP36.51.1). Michel Lasne (Caen, 1595 - Paris, 1667), est un dessinateur et graveur Français. Il fut élève de Paul Rubens. Il devient en 1633 graveur ordinaire du roi de France. On compte 759 gravures à son actif, dont 23 portraits de la famille de Louis XIII.

Large etching titled "Obsidio Arcis Sammartianianae" depicting the naval siege of the island of Re, ca. 1628-1631. Complete set of sixteen plates framed to depict the seige bordered with cartouches. The central scene depicts an aerial or bird's eye view of the island framed by panels bearing descriptions, additional scenes in cartouches, and portraits. Callot etched the central scene while Lasne and Bosse etched the borders

Large Jacques Callot "Obsidio Rupellae" Print Set

Jacques Callot (French, 1592-1635) with Abraham Bosse (French, 1604-1676) and Michel Lasne (French, 1590-1667). Large etching titled "Obsidio Rupellae" depicting the siege of La Rochelle, ca. 1628-1631. Complete set of sixteen plates framed together to depict a battle scene bordered with cartouches. The central scene depicts an aerial or bird's eye view of the battle framed by panels bearing descriptions, additional scenes in cartouches, and portraits. Callot etched the central scene and two of the smaller scenes in the border while Lasne and Bosse, and possibly Israel Henriet (French, 1590-1661), etched the portraits and the remaining border.

Bulino. mm 158x110. IFF, 263. Firmato in basso nel piccolo margine bianco "M Lasne delineavit et fecit" con la data "1629" nell'ovale. Omaggio duplice dell'autore e, come si evince dall'excudit dedicatorio "Israel amicus optimus excudit", dell'editore, al grande incisore lorenese. Una versione dalla presente, ma in controparte, venne pubblicata da Balthasar Moncornet. Bellissimo esemplare, impresso con grande freschezza, su sottile carta vergellata priva di filigrana.
