      Lee Lash (American, 1864-1935) Atlantic City Inlet Signed illegibly bottom right; also signed and titled verso, oil on board (9 7/8 x 11 7/8 in. (25.1 x 30.2cm)) Provenance Private Collection, New York, New York. Condition report: In excellent condition. Three very small chips of paint loss are present along the top edge where the painting meets the frame. No evidence of inpainting under UV light. Framed: 20 1/4 x 22 1/2 in.

      LEE LASH Madison Square. Pencil on cream wove paper, circa 1920. 260x185 mm; 10 1/2x7 inches. Signed in pencil, lower right recto. Ex-collection private collection, West Virginia. Lash (1864-1935) was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and immigrated to the United States. He studied in San Francisco and Paris, eventually settling in New York and establishing with his brother a stage curtain painting business for which he is best known, the Lee Lash Theater Curtain Company. The stock market crash of 1929 and the decline of Vaudeville hurt the buisness and Lash ultimately ended up painting smaller canvases, mainly views of New York landscapes. and retiring with his wife to Los Angeles.
