Oil on canvas Signed 100x61 cm Andrés Larraga Montaner (1860-1931) was a Spanish painter born in Valtierra, Navarre, known mainly for his landscapes and portraits. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, where he developed a realistic and detailed style. His artistic career evolved in Barcelona, where he became a prominent member of the artistic community. Larraga also excelled in the watercolour technique, participating in numerous exhibitions and receiving several awards throughout his career. His work encompasses both rural and urban scenes, capturing the essence of his surroundings with great technical skill and artistic sensitivity. Throughout his life, Larraga received numerous recognitions for his work, which allowed him to consolidate his reputation in the Spanish art scene. In addition to his work in painting, Larraga also dabbled in teaching, sharing his knowledge and techniques with new generations of artists.

ANDRÉS LARRAGA Y MONTANER (Valtierra, Navarra, 1862 - Barcelona, 1931). "Landscape". Oil on canvas. Signed in the lower corner. Measurements: 49 x 62 cm. Larraga begins his artistic formation in Barcelona, as a disciple of Josep Armet, landscape painter follower of Martí Alsina and the school of Barbizon. Thus, his first works are characterized by a romantic landscape painting, with references to Millet. In 1886 he arrived in Paris, where he came into contact with the work of Berthe Morisot and Édouard Manet, as well as with impressionist painting. It is not known how long the painter stayed in Paris, although it is known that he alternated his trips with stays in Barcelona, where in 1887 he took part in his first collective exhibition, organized in the Sala Parés. In addition to exhibiting regularly in that hall, he participated in the Extraordinary Exhibitions of Fine Arts in Barcelona and in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in Madrid in 1922. Larraga's work is preserved in the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and in the Museum of Fine Arts of Navarra.
