    LAROON MARCELLUS (1679 - 1772) - Interno con scena galante. Olio su tela. Cm 31x35,5. Interessante maestro dipinse più da dilettante che da artista, ha conosciuto i temi della commedia dell'arte veneziana riportando in pittura le scenografie, infatti nella sua opera si notano elementi caricaturali, bonari e a volte con accenni al ridicolo. Continuò a dipingere fino ai novant'anni e suoi ultimi disegni portano la data dell'anno precedente la morte. A Palazzo Reale a Milano (gennaio - marzo 1975) alla mostra "Pittura inglese 1640 - 1840" il Duca di Buccleuc and Queensberry prestò un dipinto di Marcellus Laroon "La riunione musicale" proveniente dal castello di Drumlaring. Dipinto pubblicato nel catalogo Electa della suddetta mostra a pag. 143 tavola 99 nel quale si evince la palmare evidenza attributiva con il nostro.
