Note: "In 2002, just before my mother's death, I exhibited a show called The Country in the basement of a Tel Aviv gallery depicting... - a world of bloodbaths taken from the second intifada terror attacks of those days. In that installation, which was impactful, I used agriculture, a fundamental theme in Zionist identity, agenda, and practice, with the return to the land as "new-Jews," in a metaphoric way - and the scene I depicted there was a harvest of red fruit which I made from daily newspapers (Ha'aretz)." (https://mymodernmet.com/sigalit-landau-salt-years/) Born in Jerusalem in 1969, Sigalit Landau is an interdisciplinary artist who works with installation, video, photography and sculpture. Landau graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem in 1994. After several years in Europe and in the United-States, she returned to Tel Aviv, and currently lives and works in Israel.

SIGALIT LANDAU (Jerusalem 1969- lives and works in Israel) From DeadSee tif 16. 2005. Colour photograph. 4/6. Signed on a seperate label: Sigalit Landau, as well as titled. Sheet size 56 x 99.4 cm on photopaper. Probably minimally trimmed. Provenance: - Purchased at Alon Segev Gallery, Tel-Aviv. - Since then private collection Switzerland. This is a film still from the video DeadSee from 2005, a performance in which the artist positions herself within and holds on to a 150 metre coil of 500 watermelons. Like everything in the Dead Sea, the watermelons and the artist herself float on the surface. The watermelon coil slowly unravels. Landau holds on to the open watermelons, which like her, are exposed to the burning of the salt water. DeadSee was first displayed as part of the "The Endless Solution" installation in the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion, Tel Aviv Museum of Art. --------------- SIGALIT LANDAU (Jerusalem 1969 - lebt und arbeitet in Israel) From DeadSee tif 16. 2005. Farbfotografie. 4/6.
