Note : cet artiste, née en 1938 à Hai Duong et orpheline très jeune, possède un trait franc et aérien. Adoptée par le portraitiste d’Hai Phong, Tran Dac, elle apprend très vite à dessiner. Elle est connue pour ses représentations instantanées, douces et nostalgiques de scènes de la vie quotidienne. Ses oeuvres sont exposées à Saïgon à partir de 1957 et elle vit aujourd’hui aux Etats-Unis

    BE KY, Vietnamese, b. 1938, Vietnam, California Ink and watercolor on silk, set of 5 Dimensions vary. All are signed. One is dated 1957 BE KY rose to international fame as a teen by selling her sketches on the streets of Saigon and catching the eye of a French art critic, whom arranged solo shows in Paris and Tokyo. BE KY’s work depicts animals and rural life in a poetic and serene manner. Three watercolors show cranes in abstracted settings among rock, blossoming tree branches, and other plants. One painting is dated to 1957 and shows a bird flying to two birds that are resting on a bamboo branch. Another watercolor shows a man and horse hurrying through bursts of rainfall, with their heads looking down to the ground for visual guidance while running. The animal paintings include pink, and every painting is signed.
