    Rare Shin-Hanga "Dotonbori, Osaka", oban woodblock with seal, signed in margin and with Watanabe seal. A night rain scene viewing the river entertainments in the rain. In paper mat, as issued. 10 1/4" x 15" sheet, tipped at top to 20" x 14 1/2" mount. Very good condition. Konen produced woodblock prints in the traditional ukio-e style for Kobayashi Bunshichi (1864-1923), of Tokyo. Watanabe Shozaburo, also originally employed by Kobayashi and later the founder of the shin hanga movement, took in Konen after Kobayashi’s death during the devastating 1923 earthquake.
