    Leo Klin (Russian, 1887-1967) A Still life of lilies in a glass jug signed lower left 'Leo Klin / 1945' tempera on canvas laid on board 48 x 69cm Footnote: Provenance: Private collection, Kensington, London Exhibited: London, Royal Academy, 1947, no. 773, as 'Lilies - tempera' The painting of St George slaying the dragon, hung in the background, would appear to be copied from an illustration in a Connoisseur of 1941 of a Flemish 15th century panel by an unknown artist, which is today recorded in the Hulton Fine Art Library and the Getty Images.

    DESCRIPTION: Leo Klin ( Russian. 1887 - 1967) Still Life Oil Painting depicting a ceramic vase with a delicate bouquet of flowers in a combination of lavender, purple, light pink, magenta and white colors. Signed along the bottom right corner. Framed. Leo Klin 1887-1967, was born in Grodno, Russia where he studied at the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts, St Petersburg. In England he exhibited widely, including RA, RP, UA, NEAC and throughout the provinces. Sunderland Museum and Art Gallery and Russell-Cotes Art Gallery, Bournemouth hold his work. He lived in London. CIRCA: Early - Mid 20th Century. ORIGIN: Russia. DIMENSIONS: Frame is H: 19 1/2" W:15 1/4". Canvas is H: 16" W: 12". CONDITION: Good condition.
