Kitson Fecit / 18 Roma 73'' to the integral oval base, mounted on a molded oval plinth, overall: 61'' H x 20'' W x 15'' D, est: $7000/10,000. Note: Born in Yorkshire, England, Samuel Kitson moved to the United States after studying in Rome from 1870 - 1873. Maintaining studios in Boston and New York City, he built a successful and prolific career. His commissions included the statuary of the William K. Vanderbilt house and several works for churches and public monuments. He is the brother of John William Kitson and Henry Hudson Kitson, also well known sculptors.
