    King, William Dickey (American/New York, 1925-2015), The Test, 1970, multiple with interlocking pieces of extruded Aluminum die cut with insets to mount as a freestanding sculpture, the sculpture depicts a crouching male figure balancing a female figure on one arm, 20 x 14 x 7 inches, with original presentation box and pictorial directions incised with number 71/200 on one side and the reverse with artist's monogram and date. William Dickey King was known for his modernist figural sculptors and as an art instructor. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and attended the University of Florida, the Cooper Union School and the Accademia dei Belli Arte in Rome as a Fulbright Scholar. King eventually established his studio in New York City and taught at schools including the Brooklyn Museum School, UC-Berkeley, The Art Students League and the University of Pennsylvania. His work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington.
