    Bong Tae Kim (South Korean, b. 1937, act. California, 1960s-70s), "Fugue III", c. 1974, intaglio on paper, pencil-signed, titled and numbered "24/75" lower margin, 20 in. x 39 1/4 in., framed. Provenance: Acquired from the artist. Note: Bong Tae Kim (aka Kim Pong-t’ae) lived in Los Angeles during the 1960s and 70s before returning home to Korea. Through his Los Angeles studio, the Triad Graphic Workshop, Kim was a frequent participant in international art shows, printmaking expositions, and museum installations. His works have been exhibited at the prestigious Biennale de Paris; within solo and group exhibitions in Japan, Korea, Turkey, Germany, England, and throughout the United States. His works are included in numerous international public and private collections, most notably the Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art in Seoul and the White House Collection, Washington, D.C. While in the US, Kim was also a highly successful and much sought after teacher, working for several institutions including the University of Southern California and the Parsons School of Design. Kim was praised for his influence on the art community, as noted art critic William Hemmerdinger states: “he nurtured an entire generation of progressive West Coast printmakers, and, through his curating and organizing of printmaking exhibitions he forged a significant and vital link to the printmaking community of the Paci?c Rim.” Ref.: Hemmerdinger, William.
