Arad, emigrated to Argentina 1909, then moved to the United States of America 1916, and Whitehead-Hoag (Newark, NJ, fl. 1892-1959) U.S.A. , 50th Anniversary of All America Cables , 1928, a bronze medal by J. Kilenyi for Whitehead-Hoag, naked winged female carrying cable above the sea, rev . Extremely fine, attractive reflective patina £90-£120 --- Provenance: Baldwin Auction, 3 November 2012, lot 681 The company was incorporated as the Mexican Cable Co on 6 May 1878, but after two further name changes it became All America Cables Inc in February 1920, before being subsumed within IT & T in 1927.     This 5-1/4-inch galvano-negative was designed in 1928 by sculptor Julio Kilenyi (1885-1959) for an award medal given by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish. It shows the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria on the open ocean. The final medals were struck in 2, 1-1/4, and 1-inch sizes. It is extremely rare for items like this to appear on the market, and it probably surfaced after the 2016 bankruptcy of Northwest Territorial Mint which had purchased Medallic Art Company in 2009.     Artist: JULIO KILENYI (1885-1959) Size: 24 x 39 in./61 x 99 cm. Union Litho, Los Angeles In the ancient Greek tradition, a young athlete was sent out to announce the forthcoming celebration of the Olympiad. For the 10th Olympics in Los Angeles, the artist modeled a likeness of that ancient Greek youth in clay; a photograph was taken, and then colored and reproduced by lithograph. Only a couple thousand copies were made. We have never seen one before. Very rare. (Sports)

    An official poster for the 1932 Los Angeles Olympic Games, by the Hungarian-American artist Julio Kilenyi (1885-1959), signed in the plate, colour lithograph, published by Union Litho Co., L.A., visible image 93 by 59cm., 36 1/2 by 23 1/4im., mounted, framed & glazed, very good condition The unusual three dimensional appearance of the youth in the poster is due to the fact that Kilenyi modelled the figure in clay. This was then photographed, the image coloured and then incorporated into the overall poster design.
