    Tuukak Kiatainaq (First Nations Canadian, Inuit, b. 1935) Soapstone carving of Seal Hunter, ca. mid-20th century CE. A large soapstone carving of a woman lying on her side with a large fish or seal clasped under her body. Her gaping mouth expression indicates a struggle to get the flopping animal under control or exertion from hauling it onto the ice. The artist's disc number is carved into the underside of the leg "E91287" and a second set of numbers above, possibly "151567." The carver, Tuukak Kiatainaq, is from the village of Kangiqsujuaq, located in Nunavik, Quebec.
