    DAVID BARROGILL KEITH MC (1891-1979) Four works by the artist: Mount Pleasant, Thurso oil on board 35cm x 46cm; Falls of Forss, Caithness oil on board 35cm x 46cm; Thurso Harbour oil on board 41 x 50cm; Thurso Looking East Towards Scrabster Lighthouse oil on board 41cm x 50cm Note : Born in Thurso, Scotland. Painter in oil and watercolour, Keith was also a lawyer. Most of his works are landscape and topographical. Served in the army in WWI and was awarded the Military Cross for heroism in France. He practised as a solicitor in Thurso between the wars and then returned to active service in 1939 serving as a Staff Captain in the legal affairs department Orkney and Shetland Defence HQ 1940-44. In 1945 he returned to Thurso resuming his legal practice. He was appointed Sheriff in 1946. He was a member of the Caithness Artists Society. He exhibited at the RSA 1937-1966 and the RSW. He was represented in the collection of HM the Queen Mother. Some of his Spanish scenes are held in the Thurso Museum.
