When he reached maturity he decided he would become a commercial artist in order to earn his bread and butter and be able to continue his study. This work took him to Canada, then Chicago, where he was connected with some of the leading advertising firms of the country. While in Chicago he became President of the famous Palette and Chisel Club, also a member and exhibitor at the Art Institute. His progress in portraiture commissions encouraged him to abandon commercial art and devote all his time to painting. In 1948 the Keisters moved to the Rio Grande Valley. Here he met with much success. The Keisters spend their vacations traveling through the U.S., Mexico and foreign lands. His gold medals, awards and other prizes are numerous.
