        Nov. 15, 2020

        Women of Britain. 1915.

        Est: $1,000 - $1,200

ARTIST: E. V. KEALEY SIZE: 19 7/8 x 29 5/8 in./50.5 x 75.2 cm PRINTER: Hill, Siffken & Co., London DESCRIPTION: Published by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee, this tender design proves the importance of women in the war effort. Whether staying at home to care for the children or working in manufacturing facilities, women were tasked with patriotism and sacrifice: namely, the sacrifice of sending their beloved male family members off to war. Kealey depicts both the struggle and the overarching goal by showing us the pained faces of the family and the troops dutifully marching off. (Art Nouveau; War & Propaganda; Children)
