She graduated at the Crimean Art School « Samokish », and then at the National Fine Arts and Architecture Academy in Kiev. Her father, Anton S. Kandinsky (descendent of Wassily Kandinsky) was a well-known pop post-soviet artist. He lived and worked in New York where he became famous for developing his signature artistic style known as « Gemism ». Today Dasha continues to broaden and enrich her father’ artistic style, as well as her own, that she calls Academism. She states that « a work of art needs to be syncretic » and by consequence, she uses the academic approach as a foundation for her works. A work of hers is not complete if it doesn’t contain a myth (non-verbal philosophy) and aesthetics. She combines mystic expressionism, nude sexuality and symbolic mythology.
