Hat sich als Maler von Pferdebildern und Reiterporträts (besonders aus Offizierskreisen und den Kreisen des Berliner Rennsports; auch den ehemaligen deutschen Kronprinzen hat er mehrfach porträtiert) einen Namen gemacht. ...", lasierende, partiell gering pastose, impressionistische Genremalerei mit lockerem breiten Pinselduktus, Öl auf Leinwand, um 1940, rechts unten signiert "Hermann Junker", rückseitig auf dem Keilrahmen Einlieferungsetikett zur Großen Deutschen Kunstausstellung im Haus der Deutschen Kunst München 1941, das Gemälde wurde 1941 im Saal 16 der Großen Deutschen Kunstausstellung gezeigt, Fehlstellen und Kratzer in der Leinwand, teils hinterlegt, restaurierungsbedürftig, original in ca. 13 cm breiter Goldleiste gerahmt, Falzmaße ca. 150 x 181 cm. Has made a name for himself as a painter of paintings of horses and portraits of riders (especially from officer circles and the circles of Berlin racing; he also portrayed the former German crown prince several times). ...", glazed, partially slightly impasto, impressionistic genre painting with loose broad brushwork, oil on canvas, c. 1940, signed lower right "Hermann Junker", on the reverse of the stretcher consignment label for the Great German Art Exhibition in the Haus der Deutschen Kunst Munich 1941, the painting was shown in 1941 in Room 16 of the Great German Art Exhibition, missing parts and scratches in the canvas, partly backed, in need of restoration, original in approx. 13 cm wide gold frame, folding dimensions approx. 150 x 181 cm. Matterstock, Leipzic, auf Masur, MCMXXXI' On the back label of the shipment to portrayed Rudolf Matterstock in Karlsruhe (1951) Dimensions: 145.5 x 110 cm Characteristical painting by the German artist Hermann Junker II The present oil painting with the portrait of a rider on horseback was created by the German painter Hermann Junker II (1867-?), who specialized in paintings of horses and equestrian portraits. Rendered in an impressionist manner, the painting shows the portrait of Rudolf Matterstock on his horse Masur in Leipzig, as an indication of the artist expresses in his painting top right. The large-format oil painting delights not only with its impressive size, but also by the expressiveness of the portrait and the very interesting colour range. The painting is signed lower right 'Hermaṅ Junker', inscribed at the upper right corner and dated 'Rud. Matterstock, Leipzic, auf Masur, MCMXXXI'. On the back, there is a label of the shipment to the portrayed himself, Rudolf Matterstock in Karlsruhe (1951). The painting is visually in good condition with some wear. The colour surface shows some crackle and touch-ups. On the back are three restored spots. The stretcher frame has been repaired and is slightly warped. The decorative ornament frame is nudged in places. The overall dimensions with frame are 155 x 121 cm, the stretcher frame measuring 145.5 x 110 cm. Hermann Junker II (1867-?) A native of Frankfurt am Main, Hermann Junker, a son of the painter Hermann Junker I (1838-1899), studied at the Städel Institute in Frankfurt with H. Hasselhorst and then in Karlsruhe with H. Baisch. From 1908, he was resident in Berlin. Junker repeatedly portrayed the German Crown Prince. He mainly created paintings of horses and equestrian portraits, particularly in military circles and the circles of Berlin racings, where he acquired a high reputation.
