Dick Joynt Art for Sale at Auction

Dick Joynt was born in Clontarf, Dublin in 1938. He initially trained as a painter and turned to sculpture after joining the Dublin Art Foundry in 1972. At this time he became interested in sculpture and excelled in the medium of clay, wood but quintessentially found his means of expression in stone. He travelled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico during the 1960s before returning to Ireland and setting up 'Craan Studios'.His first solo show was in the Painters Gallery in Dublin in 1966 followed by solo shows at the Lincoln gallery in 1979 and the David Hendriks Gallery in 1988 to mention a few. He also was a regular exhibitor at the RHA Annual exhibitions between 1977-1996, Aer Rianta 'Gateway to Art', 'Oireachtas' 82-'97, and many other venues. He received numerous public sculpture commissions throughout his career including a 3 meter high limestone piece entitled The Victors sited in the main street in Tallaght, Dublin (1988) The Ram for Wicklow County Council (1994) and The Music Makers (1995) by Kenmare Bay.His work is in the National Self Portrait collection, AIB Aer Rianta, and Bank of Ireland
