Deokrishna Jatashankar Joshi, (India 20th century), is known as the most prolific painter of impressionist and post impressionist paintings depicting life in rural India, particularly the Malwa region. Joshi is a highly regarded artist in India, is a lifetime member of the Bombay Art Society, was awarded a Ph.D. by Fine Arts College, Indore, M.P., India in 1978, had his biography published in Men of Achievement by International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England.1979, in 1980 he was awarded the highest recognition in Fine Arts - Shikhar Samman - instituted in that year by the then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. Joshi's works are held in private and public collections around the globe including in India, The United States of America, Russia, Canada, Japan, and Switzerland.
