        Photographs: Jones-Griffiths, Philip 1936 Rhuddlan, Wales - 2008 London "The Women of Vietnam". 1970s. Vintage. Gelatin silver print. 16,5 x 24,5cm. Verso marked with the stamps of agency, copyright and collection and with various handwritten details in blue ball pen, black ink pencil and black felt pen. Additionally with the former mounted label (enclosed): "The Women of Vietnam. In a society where they are traditionally revered for their poise and purity, women have been effectiverly deshumanized. They sit outside American bases wanting to enter to serve the soldiers as everything from laundrymaids to prostitutes. Vietnamese girls, despit their grat beauty make very bad whored, as they know nothing of seduction and hate their clients. The most unliberated women outside Islam, they are thrust into prostitution from as early an age as 12 and always hate it." Image corners bumped. The right image corner crushed. Provenance: David and Tessa Winter Collection, Amsterdam.

Verso titled in blue bell pen and marked with stamps of agency, copyright and collection. Additionally with the former mounted label (enclosed): "12 years old Hoang crying over the death of his sister, Tuyet, who was killed a few minutes before by helicopter rocket fire. She was only 15 years old! Her body is being taken away by the Saigon Fire Department Body Disposal Team, but the boy refuses to leave her.". Image corners minimally bumped.
