Sylvia Ji (California, born 1982) acrylic painting

                Est: $1,700 - $2,100

ARTIST: Sylvia Ji (California, born 1982) NAME: Siryn YEAR: 2005 MEDIUM: acrylic on board CONDITION: Very good. Few minor scratches. No visible inpaint under UV light. SIGHT SIZE: 43 x 23 inches / 109 x 58 cm FRAME SIZE: unframed (In-House framing available) SIGNATURE: on verso CATEGORY: antique vintage painting SKU#: 116759 US Shipping $149 + insurance. AD: ART CONSIGNMENTS WANTED. CONTACT US BIOGRAPHY: Born to a family of artists, Sylvia Ji was immersed into the world of art at a very young age. Next to her father's paintings and mother's sketchbooks, Ji has had a lifelong influence of art and culture, aided by her love for travel and exploration. Receiving her BFA in illustration from the Academy of Art University of San Francisco in 2005, she demonstrated her talent by having a successful first solo show during her last year of study. Continuing her path of ingenuity, Ji creates charged paintings brimming with an uncanny beauty that are in constant demand. Possessing an artistic voice as unique as the times we live in, Sylvia Ji is at once contemplative, spiritual, enigmatic, and yet whimsically funny. Above all else, it is perhaps beauty that emerges as her defining characteristic, and her art reflects this: an extension of herself; a passionate appreciation of simple aesthetic pleasure fused with intimately complex subject matter. Inspired by the many relationships and people that surround her, Sylvia Ji portrays many of the familiar faces in her paintings, often reflecting upon her own image and feelings. Using simple materials, she explores the female beauty and sexuality, and the tattooed subjects denote both a frightful look and certain fragility behind the mask, depicting a fearful beauty placed in an exotic, timeless reality. With each painting being spiritual and enigmatic, a nuance of the artist can be seen regardless of whom the piece actually depicts, as her desire to surprise is easily transferred to the canvas. A self-professed lover of travel and life long student of international culture and art, Sylvia's experiences and relationships continue to shape her exploration of indefinable human emotion. And while the future remains as mysterious to her as she may be to her audience, Sylvia stands confidently poised to continue to surprise. Now, and in the years to come, her life's journey is more than the sum of its parts drawn from her past, built on the present and beyond fascinating expressions of love and lust, beauty and decay, delicacy and passion.

BIOGRAPHY: Born to a family of artists, Sylvia Ji was immersed into the world of art at a very young age. "Guadalupe" #1

                Est: $900 - $2,400

Sylvia Ji's work encapsulates an alluring beauty that is both cutting edge and a nod to time-honored technique. Her paintings are symbolic reflections of herself, portraits of people she knows or nameless faces set in a landscape of fleeting and decaying beauty. Possessing an artistic voice as unique as the times we live in, Ji is at once contemplative, spiritual, enigmatic, and yet whimsically funny. Above all else, it is perhaps beauty that emerges as her defining characteristic, and her art reflects this: an extension of herself; a passionate appreciation of simple aesthetic pleasure fused with intimately complex subject matter. Ji’s work has been featured in numerous gallery & museum exhibitions and art fairs worldwide. She has been profiled in numerous publications such as Juxtapoz, Trace, and Mesh Magazine, and her painting “Dona Dolorosa” graced the cover of the LA Weekly for a feature story about Juxtapoz magazine’s Laguna Museum retrospective “In The Land of Retinal Delights”.
