      Nicolas de Jesus Prints (Mexican, b. 1960). Group of two etchings on paper including: One work titled "La Ilegada (The Arrival)," depicting a procession of skeletons on a moonlit night. Pencil signed along the lower right; titled along the lower center; numbered in Roman numerals LIV/LXXV (54/75) along the lower left. One work titled "Chicago," depicting a large crowd of skeletons on a busy city street. Pencil signed along the lower right; titled along the lower center; numbered in Roman numerals XXXI/CXXV (31/125) along the lower left. Born December 6, 1960 in the indigenous Nahua region of Guerrero, Mexico, Nicolas de Jesus developed his art through his parents and his community. His village of Ameyaltepec is a community where painting on paper is a medium of expression of local traditions. His work reflects the spectrum of his experiences from his origins in a traditional Mexican village to the issues of the Mexican migrant in the United States and his concern for preserving his cultural identity.
