Geoffrey Jenkinson RCA., (b.1925) 'The George Washington Bridge, New York', signed and dated 1954, also inscribed 'New York', pencil, pen, ink & watercolour wash, Unframed 34cm x 40cm The Picture has a label for The Royal Cambrian Academy in Wales to verso, together with a pencil inscription, possibly in the artist's own hand Geoffrey Jenkinson was born in Leeds and studied at Pudsey Technical College. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Cambrian Academy. He was taught by Frederick Cecil Jones at the Keighley Art College, both artists have a graphic quality to their work, capturing the character of many of the old West Riding of Yorkshire Mill Towns & Coalfield towns, their early work is very precisely drawn with great accuracy to detail. Geoffrey moved to America in the early, 1950's becoming a member of the Arizona Artists Guild, he had several solo shows. His work can be found in many public collections, including, Leeds City Art Gallery. May be subject to artist resale rights.
