      Antebellum Portrait of a Lady, oil on canvas, unsigned, with Goupil & Cie NYC stencil verso having the 366 Broadway address, where they were active from 1848-1858. Subject is seated with a lace trimmed blue silk dress, paisley shawl, large gold earrings and brooch, housed in a shallow gold painted gesso frame, OS: 46" x 37", SS: 37 1/2" x 29 1/2". Multiple repaired punctures, 4" tear in background to left of her head.
