Signed W. Jauquet Indian Brave & Horse Wood Statue

      Est: $2,000 - $8,000

Featured in this lot we have a original signed wood carving sculpture of an Indian Brave on a Horse by William Jauquet and originates from 1994. William R. Jauquet is an American wood sculptor artist located in Wisconsin. Jauquet is best known for his cedar carved folk art sculptures and has been branching out to bronze sculptures and painting in recent years. The statue shows wonderful hand carved wooden features depicting a Native American brave seated atop a pinto horse. Both the horse and brave are hand painted and showing wonderful design. The Native American brave is shown with a shield in one hand and a weapon in the other. He shows black and white war paint and is adorned with feathers and beaded necklaces painted in white, red, green, blue, and yellow. The horse shows hand painted black and white pinto design with braided horse hair tail and mane with its head raised in the air. The horse is set onto a signed wood base reading "Jauquet c. 1994". The folk art sculpture shows good condition overall with some wear across the paint. Jauquet carvings are increasingly scarce and desirable with his Noah's Ark example selling at auction for over $13,750. The statue measures 32" tall by 15" long and 7" wide.
