Gloria Jarvis Smith, 2005) , p. 58 The present painting was done in Brussels where Madame Guepard was a friend of Miss Jarvis.

Gloria Jarvis Smith, 2005) , p. 10 Churchill's official biographer Sir Martin Gilbert told of Churchill's attitude to his schooling in his book Churchill: A Life when he wrote: 'When, at the height of the Blitz in 1940, Randolph Churchill accompanied his father to Harrow for the annual school Songs, Churchill told him: 'Listening to those boys singing all those well-remembered songs I could see myself 50 years before singing those tales of great deeds and of great men and wondering how I could ever do something glorious for my country.'' The Prime Minister was at Harrow between the ages of 13 and 17 when he attended Harrow School as part of The Head Master's House between 1889 and 1892. Winston Churchill attended Harrow School songs for 21 years from 1940 until 1961. By 1950, the School started to refer to it as 'Churchill Songs' in honour of his numerous visits

      § Gloria Jarvis (British, b. 1925) A sketchbook; sketch of a Ballerina, signed lower left "Gloria Jarvis", watercolour, 18 x 14cm; Certificate from the Italian Academy for Gloria Jarvis, 1980, and a wooden portable easel (4) Gloria Jarvis trained at St. Martin's School of Art in London and later at the University of Florence. She later became a lecturer of historic costume and an instructor of costume drawing. However, her real love was for painting. When she married, she moved to Brussels with her husband and much of her work is in permanent collections in Belgium, a variety of oils, water colour, pastel, ink and gouache. She had a very successful career, painting Paolo of Liege and Margaret Thatcher. In her later life, Gloria returned home to England and turned more and more to writing.
