      Jarke, Hedwig. Gotzkowskybrücke in Berlin. Farbholzschnitt auf handgeschöpftem Baumwollpapier. Rechts unten signiert, links unten bezeichnet "Orig. Holzschnitt, Handdruck". Wohl 1920er Jahre. Motivmaße: 23 x 35 cm. Blattmaße: 26 x 37,5 cm. Hedwig Jarke (1882-1949) war eine deutsche Künstlerin des Jugendstils und des Japonismus. 1914 wurde sie in Leipzig bei der "Internationalen Ausstellung für Buchhandel und Grafik" mit der Silbermedaille ausgezeichnet. Ihre Werke befinden sich u.a. in der Staatlichen Kunstbibliothek und im Kupferstichkabinett in Berlin, sowie in der Staatlichen Graphischen Sammlung München. - An der linken Seite punktuell auf Unterlage montiert, insgesamt stärker gebräunt, die Fasern des Papiers teils stärker berieben, das Motiv dadurch partiell etwas verwaschen.

      2 woodcuts in colors on Japan Germany, c. 1920 Hedwig Jarke (1882-1949) – Berlin painter, wood engraver and graphic artist, active in Starnberg Monkeys signed ‘H. Jarke’ in pencil Landscape with Rain signed ‘Hedwig Jarke’ and inscribed (illegible) in pencil Sheet dimensions: 28.8 x 23.3 cm resp. 24.7 x 36.4 cm  Object is regular taxed. 19% VAT is added to the purchase price for deliveries within the EU. Condition: The sheets are somewhat discolored. ‘Landscape with Rain’ with faint traces of a former mount in the upper corners. The lower right corner is kinked. ‘Monkeys’ with gentle paper abrasions in the left image area. Both sheets are trimmed and mounted at the upper edge on cardboard. The dimensions of the sheet are 28.8 x 23.3 cm (monkeys) and 24.7 x 36.4 cm (landscape with rain). Hedwig Jarke (1882-1949) Hedwig Jarke was a pupil of Hans Eduard von Berlepsch-Valendas. She was honored with the silver medal at the International Exhibition for Book Trade and Graphic in Leipzig. Jarke delivered models for the porcelain manufactory Augarten in Vienna, e.g. an equestrian statue of Prince Eugene. The artist lived in Starnberg. (tm) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
