Sipke Jansma born on 28-2-1923 in Rijperkerk, died 2001 in Heerenveen, lived and worked almost his entire life in and around Gersloot (near Heerenveen). He formed himself (self-taught) as a painter and graphic artist. He was also a sculptor and poet.

He painted, drew and painted in the style of Frisian Expressionism (both naturalistic / figurative and abstract), including landscapes, village and forest views, ships and animals. The special, coloristic, use of color is striking for his work. He also made plastics. He participated in various (solo and group) exhibitions. His work is included in various national and international collections of private individuals, companies, institutions and government.
