Peter Jander Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1954 -

Peter Jander - Peter is one of South Africa's most renowned Impressionists, although he modestly prefers to be known as a "landscape painter."

Peter Jander was born in 1954, he grew up in Newlands, Cape Town. He was educated at SACS and after a short career as a physical trainer he became a full time artist in 1980.

With the exception of lessons with the highly acclaimed artist, Arthur Mant, on colour mixing methods, he is essentially a self-taught painter. Peter has been significantly influenced by the great Impressionists of the past, however he has taken his version of impressionism onto an entirely new level and in keeping with the 21st Century. He possesses that skilful ability to capture the mood and atmosphere of a specific moment.

His consuming passion and love for his work makes his paintings come alive.

To date, he has held over 160 one man exhibitions as well as collaborate showing with Old Masters like the late Gabriel de Jongh, Errol Boyley and Eric Wale.

He also exhibits regularly in the U.K.

In recent years Peter's paintings have found their way into prestigious Auction Houses both in Cape Town and abroad.
