In 1910, she earned a painting commission from St. Augustine, an African-American church in the Faubourg Treme. Known for her religious paintings, de Jaham painted a copy of Murillo's famed "Assumption of the Virgin" and life-size figures of the four evangelists for ceiling of the church.
