            Furniture and artist's supplies from Al Jaffee's studio. The group comprises, his drafting table; an adjustable white composite board drawing surface, with a self-healing mat affixed to the front, hooks attached to the back edge for hanging other equipment, a raised string border around the table's edge, with Jaffee's brush cleaning blotter on the right side of the table, all on a metal base; 46 x 42 inches. Soiling and wear from use, as expected; together with, a side table for storage with labeled drawers filled with art supplies. Made of white particle board, with drop leaves on either side, on black casters; 23 x 19 x 27 inches. The ten drawers are labeled in Jaffee's hand - Triangles, Rulers, Pencils, [Pens], Markers, Holbein Gouache, Tracing Scrap, Ovals, Curves, Naral. Wear from use; and large a group of art supplies, including India inks, colored inks, pens, four boxes of Gouache, and a box of watercolor palettes including a medium-sized Windsor Newton watercolor set, and four other sets. The artist's materials have not been tested and some could be dried out, the lot is sold as is.             Approximately one hundred and fifty books from Al Jaffee's Library, including books about Jaffee, books about MAD magazine and various MAD cartoonists, compilations of MAD cartoons (including collections of Jaffee's comics), the National Society of Cartoonists albums, books on the history and art of cartoons, some graphic novels, a few comics and magazines, and various books on unrelated topics. The collection includes many signed and inscribed books, some with drawings. If Jaffee is mentioned in a book, contributes an illustration, or is featured in an interview he marks the relevant page with a post-it note. The conditions vary, but the books generally in very good shape; together with, Approximately twenty reference books that Jaffee used to write and draw his comics, including, visual glossaries for drawing people, plants, and animals, a grammar book, a dictionary, thesauruses, a book on child psychology, and more.             Al Jaffee's extensive collection of MAD Magazines and other comics

            A large collection of Al Jaffee's comics and MAD magazines, including, a long run of approximately 190 issues of MAD, consisting of sequential issues from the early 2000s to the 2020s (apparently all of the MADs from #393 to #550, and from No. 1 to 8), but also with MAD #86 from April 1964 (featuring Jaffee's first fold-in), one from 1974, one from 1985, and three issues from the 1990s. A few of the covers are signed by Jaffee. The MADs are all housed in plastic magazine holders or manilla envelopes with identifying labels and post-it notes in Jaffee's hand. Generally very good, but some issues are more worn, including # 86, and certain covers have short tears or creased corners; together with, a large group of approximately 200 issues of various MAD titles, all duplicates, including many copies of the Special Al Jaffee issue, as well as other MAD Titles such as Classic MAD, MAD Kids, and some international issues of MAD magazine. Generally fine or near fine, with some issues more worn; and with, a large group of other comics, some of which include cartoons and strips by Jaffee, including Mosiah Times, Sponge Bob Comics, RoyalFlush, Garfield, Alter Ego, various DC titles, and more. Some in plastic boxes, some of these are loose. The entire lot contains approximately 500 comics and magazines. Generally fine, the lot should be seen, and it is sold as is.

            A group of thirteen Awards and certificates in recognition of Al Jaffee's achievements. The group comprises, Four National Illustrators Society awards (Special Features Cartoonist 1971 and 1975, Advertising and Illustration 1973, Comic Book Humor Cartoonist 1979), 11 x 8 1/4 inches; Two Harvey Awards (Best Cartoonist and Special Award for Humor in Comics, both 2009); The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art's Klein Award, 2011; Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame Award, 2014; The National Cartoonist Society Medal of Honor, 2016; The Harvey Kurtzman Hall of Fame Award, 2016; The Golden Doozie; The Guinness Book of World Records certificate for longest career as a cartoonist, 2016; Office of the Mayor of the City of New York Proclamation of March 30th, 2016 is "Al Jaffee Day." Generally in very good condition, with some oxidizing to the NIS awards; together with, A photo album of the NCS Medal of Honor Presentation. Spiral bound in pink sparkly boards. Fine.

            A Group of twelve prints titled "The General," late 1960s but printed later. Etchings, with printed text about the prints, a sheet of notes regarding who had received certain examples of Jaffee's prints, and the original copperplate used to produce the prints wrapped in newspaper; Each plate 8 x 5 inches. The prints are signed and numbered, 1/12, 3-12/12, and with one marked artist's proof. Print 1/12 is framed, and the rest of the lot is housed in an artist's portfolio. Fine. As per the printed artist's statement: "In his biography, Al Jaffee states, 'I hated the Vietnam War. And on top of it, to pour acid into an open wound, you've got these fucking generals and colonels coming home from the war and they have the temerity to fill their chests with medals announcing how wonderful war is and how many people they killed.' As a response to the Vietnam War, Al Jaffee created "The General" in the late 1960s. Printed for the first time, this bold and scathing artwork is as relevant today as it was when drawn over 40 years ago."
