The poster contains the following information in German ‘Sunday, February 11, 1912, Farmhand Ball at the Zoo, organised by the “Lotterbuben”. Men’s admissions 6 M, women’s admissions 4 M, at the ball office Ritterstrasse 72., at the theatre booking office of the Fa. A. Wertheim, at Invalidenmarkt, Unter d. Linden 24, at Café Josty, Bellevuestrasse 21-22 and in the poster display info shops’. The poster is illustrated colourfully with the humorous performers of the ‘Lotterbuben’. The printer’s name is located in the upper left corner ‘Reklameverlag Ernst Marx Berlin W.8.’. The name of the designer is printed centrally on the left side ‘Jacoby-Boy’. The poster is laid down on canvas. The paper displays material losses in the upper right corner. The paper is yellowed and creased. The dimensions are 95 x 72 cm. Martin Jacoby-Boy (1883-1971) Martin Jacoby-Boy was born in 1883 in Ingeniero Maschwitz, close to Buenos Aires. He was architect, film architect and graphic designer. Besides a number of universities, he also studied at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. At the beginning, active as art painter and graphic artist, he created fonts and advertising panels. Since 1919, he worked intensified as film architect and created the entire scene imagery for films. Since 1922, he moved to architecture as such, however, in 1933 the National Socialists prohibited his professional activity. Jacoby-Boy was able to escape via the Netherlands to Buenos Aires.         Martin Jacoby-Boy, German 1883-1971- Mythological bird over a temple; pen and black ink and watercolour, signed with monogram, 8.5x14cm., (mounted) (unframed). Note: The artist studied at Kunstschule in Berlin circa 1902 where he was associated with the Die Brucke and Neue Sachlichkeit art movements. Joined the Deutscher Werkbund in 1912 and worked for the Deutsches Theatre where he met the German film director Friedrich Murnau. Two works exhibited at the Darmstadt 1904 Posters Exhibition. He is later to work with the film directors Joe May and Fritz Lang and worked on projects in architecture between 1923-1933.
