Harry Jacobus, (b.1927- ) was an active member of the abstract expressionist movement in the San Francisco Bay Area. Jacobus studied at the Oakland School of arts and Crafts, and later at the California School of Fine Arts with Clifford Still and David Park. At CSFA Jacobus met and become lifelong friend with Jess Collins and Robert Duncan. Together the three opened the King Ubu Gallery in 1952 which became a center for avant-garde art, music and poetry in the Bay Area.
