Not only the former first lady Anna Eleanor Roosevelt used the words distinguished artist in her famous diary My Day, of July 18, 1939, but also because Jacobs often appeared on many newspapers at that time. Jacobs was also famous of hers having painted more notables than any other portrait painters at her time. She had painted three US presidents Galvin Goolidge, Herbert Hoover, and Warren G. Harding, and three first ladies in live. She also painted Secretary of the Treasury Andrew Mellon whose name is on the Building of Old Town of Manassas Post Office dated 1931. It was during her stay in Washington, she met Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Koo (顧維鈞) who recommended and invited her to visit Peking. The beautiful portrait of Mrs. Koo was a magic key that open the sacred door of China, and the Forbidden City. She had already won wide reputations. Jacobs visited and stay in China for three years outside the Forbidden City. She brought a Northern Song Dynasty painting painted by Zhao Lingrang (赵令穰/大年) to United States.
