      DESCRIPTION: Ella Jackson (American, 1894-1982) still life painting on paper. Depicts a centered footed planter with tricolor plants, in magenta, blue and green hues. Signed on the lower left bottom corner. Framed Ella Jackson was an American painter. She was born in Manhattan, NY on April 7, 1894. She studied at Catholic University and Teacher's College, Columbia University as well as painting with Hans Hofmann and printmaking with Gabor Peterdi. It is thought that she spent some time in Mexico City, owing to the influence of Mexican Modernism frequently found in her subject matter and bold style. Jackson exhibited widely in the forties and fifties, including exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum, the Philadelphia Print Club and the Bodley Gallery. She was a member of the Brooklyn Society of Artists, the Provincetown Art Association and the Cape Cod Art Association. Ella F. Jackson died in 1982.
