CHEVALIER JACKSON

CHEVALIER JACKSON (1865 – 1958) American physician and pioneer in laryngology. He is sometimes known as the "father of endoscopy." Lot of three signed items includes two copies of his 1938 autobiography "The Life of Chevalier Jackson" (New York: Macmillan Co.), 230pp. 8vo. with photographic plates, some illustrating some of the 2,000+ items Jackson extracted from the stomachs of his (insane?) patients. Both are boldly inscribed, one to a colleague in bronch-esophagology", both with worn and sunned spines, along with a brief, friendly A.L.S., 1954 and a candid photo of the physician. Four pieces.
