      Est: €2,500 - €3,000

JOHN STUART INGLE (Indiana, 1933- Minnesota, 2010). "Still life with tulips", 1981. Watercolor on paper. Numbered 3/5. Presents informative label on the back. Signed, dated and serialized in the lower right corner. Presents numbering of the series to which it belongs. Measurements: 40 x 30 cm; 68 x 56 cm (frame). In this painting the author, through the masterly use of watercolour, composes a still life of realistic aesthetics, where each element is treated in detail, with such precision that each one of them becomes the protagonist of the scene in an almost independent way. This idea is reinforced by the white background, which gives the elements greater prominence, especially the rug, which was very common in Stuart Ingle's painting. In fact, the rug is depicted in several of the artist's works, such as a painting published by Google Arts&Culture entitled "The Good Life 28", executed in 1979. American artist, known for his meticulously executed watercolours, in which the presence of various elements such as fruit, glassware and crockery stand out. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting in 1964 and his Master of Fine Arts degree in painting in 1966, both from the University of Arizona, Tucson. Throughout his career he combined his work as an artist with teaching, lecturing at the University of Minnesota from 1966 to 2003. He said of his painting, "I don't want to make arbitrary changes in what I see in order to paint the picture. I want to paint what is given. The idea is to take something that is given and explore that reality as intensely as I can". Ingle's work is in several major public art collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Yale University Art Gallery, the Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science, the Arkansas Arts Center (AAC) and the Art Institute of Chicago, among others.
