It shows a path lined by high firs in the Lüneburg Heath. Illies’ brushwork underlines the thicket of the trees and adds an almost impressionistic character to the painting. The painting is in good condition. The colors are darkened and there are the usual framing marks along the edges. It is signed on lower left ‘Harald Illies’. On the reverse a label is inscribed with title and date of the work ‘In der Röndahler Heide 1949’. The painting measure, including the frame 53 x 44.5 cm. Depicted are fields along the edges of a forest in summerly atmosphere, a path is running along in the front. The brushwork is very dynamic and in movement reminiscent of the manner of the painting of the Impressionists. The painting is signed lower left in pencil ‘Harald Illies’.
